USMC 3092 guidon
An original prop from the production of Full Metal Jacket, the 1987 war picture directed by Stanley Kubrick.
This is an original guidon as seen prominently in various sequences of the movie as the recruits train under Sergeant Hartman (Lee Ermey). Constructed from red material the guidon features the platoon number in stencilled yellow lettering to both sides with two eyelets to one side used to attach it to a flagpole. The font on this piece differs slightly from the ones seen in close up on screen however there are a number of instances where they cannot be seen clearly and the final photograph presented here clearly shows guidons of two differing fonts displayed in an exhibition of original Full Metal Jacket material hosted by the Stanley Kubrick Archive.
The guidon measures approximately 19" x 16" and remains in excellent vintage condition, very fine.
A recognisable and displayable artefact from this production of this highly regarded war picture.
