Titanic

An original life jacket used in the production of Titanic, the 1997 disaster epic starring Leonardo DiCaprio and Kate Winslet under the direction of James Cameron.

This passenger life jacket is one of a number created by the production and used by the passengers as they attempt to escape the sinking vessel. Constructed from thick canvas with interior padding this life jacket features four straps to the rear which wrap around to tie at the front and velcro sides allowing heat packs to be placed inside whilst filming in the water, only a limited number of the life jackets created for production had this feature. This particular example retains an original heat pack to the interior and interestingly some enchilada sauce and sweet wrappers which the wearer has stored inside, this practically guaranteeing its use during location filming in Mexico. The jacket is accompanied by a Twentieth Century Fox studio COA and the original J Peterman Company shipping box, invoice and interior packaging from its purchase in 1998.

The jacket remains in very good production used condition with some staining where one of the sauce packets has leaked and minor soiling from use during filming. A nice example of an original jacket which is guaranteed to have been used on camera.

A highly displayable and instantly recognisable artefact from this acclaimed Academy Award winning masterpiece and an iconic image from the most famous disaster in maritime history.
