Production used clapperboard
An original clapperboard used in the production of the 1977 James Bond picture The Spy Who Loved Me starring Roger Moore as the suave spy.
This production used traditional style black wooden clapperboard with hinged clap stick bears the movie title 'THE SPY WHO LOVED ME WITH' with 'EON PRODUCTIONS' above in addition to the names of director Lewis Gilbert and director of photographer Claude Renoir as cameraman. The main unit clapperboard has spaces where the slate number, take number and date could be marked for reference during the production and exhibits some minor signs of chalk residue and features a tape to the bottom which is hand inscribed with the date '26th-JAN-77, INTERIOR DAY' from its last use during filming.
The rear of the clapperboard features the addition of a red ring bound Rank Film Laboratories colour chart used to determine printing exposure and adjust lighting ratios, this has been attached to the board with black tape. There are multiple images of an identical main unit clapperboard complete with chart being used during the production of the movie, both on location in Egypt and at Pinewood Studios in London where the interior supertanker set was constructed on the newly built 007 Stage.
The clapperboard measures approximatly 15" x 14" and remains in good condition with paint and edge wear consistent with extremely heavy use during the production, the affixed colour chart remains in good condition with similar edge wear and the hinge exhibits signs of rust due to age.
An exceptional example of the iconic clapperboard and one which clearly saw heavy use during the production of one of the most celebrated franchises in cinematic history.
