Unproduced screenplay
An original screenplay from The Chilian Club, Michael Klinger's ill fated film production based on author George Shipway's controversial 1971 political satire of the same name.
British producer Michael Klinger's noted project to bring The Chilian Club to the big screen began circa 1972 before being finally abandoned several years later after being unable to secure finance for the controversial production having been rejected on various occasions by major players in the film industry. Several screenplays were written by various people over the years with this script being an original dated 14th March 1977 with writing credit to Benny Green and Michael Klinger himself. The script consists of 100 pages in addition to a title page which are bound between covers of black card with a window cut out to the front and features various text underlined throughout in black and red pen, this largely relating to prop and special effects requirements. Despite Klinger stating in 1977 that the picture was in the advanced stages of pre production troubled relationships between those involved meant the project would ultimately never come to fruition.
This script which was used during those pre production stages in 1977 remains in excellent vintage condition with some light edge wear and toning with rusting to the interior binding pins, overall fine.
This represents an exceptionally rare artefact from the production of The Chilian Club and arguably the draft which came closest to seeing Klinger's vision realised.
