The Ayatollah (Ernest Miller) bicep bands
An original costume piece used in the production of The Wrestler, the 2008 sporting drama picture starring Mickey Rourke under the direction of Darren Aronofsky.
These bicep bands formed part of the costume worn by former wrestler Ernest Miller as The Ayatollah as he faces Randy Robinson (Mickey Rourke) in the climactic sequence of the movie. Constructed from elasticated material the red and white bands feature a large black and green star with both hand signed by Miller and inscribed 'The Cat', his nickname while active as a professional wrestler.
The knee pads measure approximately 6" x 4" and remain in good condition with some surface wear and sweat marks consistent with heavy production use.
A rare example of principal character costume from this critically acclaimed picture which saw Mickey Rourke nominated for the Academy Award for Best Actor.
