Production used storyboard sequence - Tangier magic carpet escape

Description

An original storyboard sequence used in the production of the 1987 James Bond picture The Living Daylights starring Timothy Dalton as the suave spy.

This storyboard sequence covers the scenes where Bond escapes the authorities across the rooftops of Tangier, Morocco. Originally this sequence was intended to end with Bond travelling on a 'magic' carpet down telephone wires before making his escape on a motorcycle, an idea conceived by director John Glen. The magic carpet element was ultimately cut from the film as Glen felt the appearance of the carpet to be too stiff and the scene not up to scratch, it is however presented as an extra on DVD release of the film.

This is an original production issued copy of the storyboards which were revised by Glen himself and closely resemble to final footage shot on location in November 1986. The sequence starts where Bond finds himself on the roof and covers all the footage we see in the finished film in addition to the entire magic carpet ride and motorcycle escape which was cut. Comprising of three pages with the revision date 18.8.86 each board carries a shot number and detailed notes relating to the action an offers an interesting insight in to the production process.

The storyboard sequence is bound by a staple to the top left corner and remains in excellent production used and folded condition, very fine.

A fine storyboard sequence from one of the most celebrated franchises in cinematic history.
