Spacesuit helmet
An original spacesuit helmet used in the production of the 1997 science fiction horror Event Horizon.
This is an original spacesuit helmet custom made for the production, designed by John Mollo of Star Wars and Alien fame they were built for the movie by FBFX. The helmet is constructed from fibreglass with cast resin detailing and a large plastic visor area, intricately detailed the helmet features functional lights to either side with a further dimly lit panel to the front and printed life support information to the rear. The front of the helmet features name and number stickers which could be changed depending on which character was to use it thus minimising the number needing to be built, currently sporting 'SMITH' stickers from its last use during the production the helmet is also inscribed 'JUSTIN' to the interior lining in pen. Both the front and back of the helmet feature clips which were used to attach the front and rear packs of the spacesuit and there is a hole to the rear underside of the helmet where the wire which powers the lights would have run through a ventilation hose providing cool air from a fan located in the spacesuits backpack which also contained the battery pack to power the lights.
The spacesuit helmet measures approximately 15.5" wide and stands approximately 19", it remains in good condition with some wear from production use, the most notable damage being a large crack to the visor area which has been repaired, the lights remain in working order when connected to a battery.
A highly displayable artefact and an excellent example of principal character costume from this regarded science fiction movie.
