Doctor Who

An original costume used in the production of the long running BBC science fiction television series Doctor Who.

From the 2010 episode The Beast Below starring Matt Smith as The Doctor this is an original costume as worn by the Smiler androids aboard the Starship UK. The costume is a vintage choir robe or similar created by The C. E. Ward Company of New London, Ohio which later found its way in to the hire stock of leading theatrical tailors Angels the Costumiers before its use in the series.

The costume comprises of a large purple robe with a shirt of blue cotton to the interior featuring white collars modified for the production. The robe retains its original C. E. Ward Company label to the interior collar with an applied Angels & Bermans label on top and is accompanied by an Angels the Costumiers costume bag featuring a sticker which is hand inscribed 'DR WHO, SERIES 5, SMILERS, THE BEAST BELOW'.

The costume remains in good vintage production used condition exhibiting age related colour change to the shoulders and arms of the robe.

A fine example of original wardrobe from this classic science fiction series.
