Doctor Who

An original costume used in the production of the long running BBC science fiction television series Doctor Who.

From the 1976 serial The Deadly Assassin starring Tom Baker as The Doctor is this original Time Lord robe, part of the costumes visioned by noted designer James Acheson and created by freelance effects artist Allister Bowtell and the BBC Wardrobe Department.

The floor length Prydonian Chapter robe is constructed from heavyweight orange curtain material and features pleated detail to the shoulders and arms, to the interior collar a wardrobe tag is present hand inscribed 'BOWMAN' for supporting artist Willie Bowman, it is also this style of robe worn by Tom Baker. These robes were subsequently reused in other serials to include The Invasion of Time and beyond.

The robe remains in good screen used condition with some repair work to both arms where it had once suffered damage, some minor areas of discolouration are also present, otherwise fine.

An instantly recognisable and highly displayable Time Lord artefact from this cult science fiction series.
