Private Joe Walker (James Beck) battle dress
An original battle dress used in the production of the BBC war time television sitcom Dad's Army.
This battle dress jacket was worn by James Beck as Private Joe Walker in the early series of this long running sitcom. The jacket, of green denim is an 1953 army surplus acquired by the BBC for production use, labeled to the interior with makers name and sizing information hand inscribed in pen 'BBC', 'WARDROBE' and 'WALKER' along with other illegible writing. The dress features an integral belt and buckle with pocket detail to the breast, button detailing to the front with hook and eye fastening to the collar area.
The battle dress is in good condition with only minor wear and missing one button to the right breast pocket.
A rare example of costume from one of the most memorable and popular sitcoms in British television.
