James Bond: Octopussy

Octopussy's Circus sign

Sold

Description

An original prop used in the production of the 1983 James Bond picture Octopussy starring Roger Moore as the suave spy.

This is one of a number of different signs created by the production and used to promote Octopussy's (Maud Adams) circus performances which are being used as a front to smuggle jewellery. Signs of this style were used at the Karl-Marx-Stadt circus performance to promote the next appearance at Feldstadt where Bond disarms the bomb. The colourful sign is printed on vinyl which has been mounted on a wooden board and features a large clown face with 'OCTOPUSSY'S CIRCUS' to the bottom in yellow and 'NEXT PERFORMANCE FELDSTADT' to the top in white lettering. This imagery of the clown can been seen at various points throughout the movie including on the circus programmes, on various banners at the performances and on the poster which the knife wielding twin Grischka (Anthony Meyer) targets aboard the train.

The circus sign measures a very impressive 31" x 21" and remains in excellent production used condition with some minor edge bumping and slight warping, overall fine.

This represents an iconic image from the movie and an incredibly vibrant and displayable artefact from one of the most celebrated franchises in cinematic history.
