Nuclear charge mine miniature - Collision Course
This model miniature nuclear charge mine was used on screen in Gerry Anderson's cult science fiction television series Space: 1999, such charges were a central plot device in Collision Course, the thirteenth episode of series one and are frequently used in attempts to prevent various disasters.
The charges were built in two scales by renowned model maker Martin Bower and were constructed from Woolworths plastic picnic plates which were dressed with added detailing including kit parts and stickers. It is meticulously hand painted and weathered. This larger scale mine is fantastically detailed with added spikes and hooked feet in a very similar fashion to a real life contact mine.

An excellent example of the model work for which this groundbreaking series is still famed almost forty years on.
