Nightmare Before Christmas (The)

Christmas Town house miniature

Sold

Description

An original miniature used in the production of The Nightmare Before Christmas, the 1993 stop motion animation favourite directed by Henry Selick and produced by Tim Burton.

This house miniature is an original used on the Christmas Town set seen as Jack Skellington sings the song 'What's This' after opening the portal. The miniature is constructed from foam core board which has been detailed with window cut outs, a door and balsa wood edging, this has been hand painted in red, green and white colours traditionally associated with Christmas. The roof is sculpted in air drying clay painted white and dressed with glitter to resemble snow with a red chimney to the back. To the rear of the house is a cardboard door hinged with tape to allow access to the interior for lighting. The interior of the miniature is painted yellow and remnants of glue where the lighting was rigged inside are still present. To the front of the house are five small holes from where lights were placed on the house on set and subsequently removed after filming. The unique features of the Christmas Town miniatures have allowed one to conclusively screen match this house which is highlighted in the final image.

The miniature stands approximately 9" high and remains in excellent production used condition with some minor wear which includes a small piece of balsa trim missing to the right side with the tip of the chimney being broken off, otherwise fine.

A vibrant and highly displayable miniature artefact from this Academy Award nominated stop motion animation classic.
