Space: 1999

An original costume used in the production of Space: 1999, the cult science fiction television series produced by Gerry and Sylvia Anderson.

This female Moonbase Alpha tunic features a zip up purple sleeve which identifies it as a security tunic. Although the vast majority of security guards seen throughout the series are male there are appearances by female security guards in at least three episodes, notably Breakaway, Missing Link and Guardian of Piri making this an incredibly rare example of a female purple sleeved tunic. The costume was subsequently modified for Year 2 with a purple turtle neck collar being added and section colour stitching added to the chest. The costume is inscribed to the interior seam pen to Jennifer Cresswell who played numerous guest characters throughout both series of the show.

The costume remains in excellent production used condition with virtually no damage, a rarity with these costumes which are particularly susceptible to moth holes. This represents the finest condition original Space: 1999 tunic ever handled by The Prop Gallery.
