Monorail train filming miniature
An original filming miniature used in the production of Space Police, the 1986 pilot film produced by Gerry Anderson of Thunderbirds fame.
In 1986 Terrahawks producers Anderson Burr Pictures created Space Police, a pilot film starring long time Anderson collaborator Shane Rimmer which combined live action with puppetry and model miniature effects. This pilot film entitled Star Laws failed to sell and remained unaired, the ideas behind it were reworked in to what would eventually become Space Precinct, the 1994 series produced by Gerry Anderson.
This is the original filming miniature of the presidential train which features prominently throughout the episode and was created by a visual effects department headed by Steven Begg who would later produce effects for Space Precinct. The train is constructed from largely from plastic sheet and tubing and is dressed with kit parts and tape, the miniature is highly detailed with three lights to the front, various panel lines and a weathered paint finish. Both sections of the miniature feature removable panels to the top, one believed reproduction, allowing access to the wiring which powers the front lights, these remaining fully operational when connected to a power source.
The miniature measures approximately 39" long and remains in excellent production used condition with only minor wear, overall very fine.
This represents an incredibly rare and highly displayable miniature from this typically well produced Anderson pilot.
