Doctor Who

An original costume from the long running BBC television series Doctor Who.

This costume was worn on screen by Stratford Johns as Monarch in the 1982 serial Four to Doomsday starring Peter Davison as The Doctor. This large and heavyweight one piece costume was created by the BBC costume department and is constructed from mixed materials including thick velvet and curtain material dressed with braiding, lined to the interior, accompanied by press stud attached collar of card covered in iridescent plastic with detailing which can be screen matched to that worn by Johns as Monarch, as can details to the lower portion of the costume. In addition to this the Monarch costume is the only one dressed with green braiding, the costumes of both Enlightenment and Persuasion lack this detail.

The costume remains in excellent screen used condition throughout with only light wear.

An incredible example of principal character costume from the Peter Davison era and a testament to the quality of the BBC wardrobe department.
