Forbidden Planet

An original vintage photograph from the production of Forbidden Planet, the classic 1956 science fiction picture directed by Fred M. Wilcox.

This original vintage large format 4" x 5" studio photograph was created during the production and shows the steps descending from the full size United Planets Cruiser C-57D built at Metro-Goldwyn-Mayer Studios in Culver City which was constructed only as partial craft and surrounded by a large cyclorama for live action filming on the planets surface. To the top the photograph is dated April 23, 1955 which was during the first week of principal photography and features the MGM production code 1671, it remains in excellent vintage condition exhibiting only very minimal edge and corner wear, overall extremely fine.
