Lorne Peterson personal storyboard - Mayapore village matte painting
An original storyboard used in the production of the 1984 picture Indiana Jones and the Temple of Doom, the second instalment in the popular Indy franchise.
This storyboard is a production issued copy of the original rendering and was utilised at noted special effects house Industrial Light & Magic (ILM) during the production of the visual effects work. The storyboard depicts the village of Mayapore, it is titled 'INDY II' and dated 'NOV 02 1983' to the top left and features a large illustration which was the work of ILM visual effects storyboard artist Stanley Fleming, below are a list of elements relating to the shot to include the combination of live action with a matte painting by Michael Pangrazio with the shot number MP1, an interesting note mentions the possible reuse of effects footage filmed for Return of the Jedi. This storyboard was issued to ILM model shop supervisor Lorne Peterson who was a recipient of the Academy Award for Best Visual Effects for his contribution to the picture.
The storyboard measures 11" x 8.5" and remains in near perfect production used condition, overall very fine.
A highly displayable example of original production material from one of the most highly regarded and iconic franchises in cinematic history.
