Kane (John Hurt) miniature shroud
An original miniature created during the production of the 1979 science fiction classic Alien directed by Ridley Scott with design from legendary Swiss surrealist H. R. Giger.
This miniature shroud was created for the scenes where Kane's (John Hurt) body is ejected into space after he is killed. Constructed by noted model maker Martin Bower at Bray Studios the miniature is carved in wood and features lace up detail achieved with small screws and string. The shroud is hand painted in white with a number of hand inscribed markings in paint and ink to match the full size prop that was made for the production and features a hole to the base and two to the back where it could be rigged for use during the production. The final images show the shroud on the workbench in the Bray Studios workshop and Martin Bower sculpting this very miniature during the production.
The miniature shroud measures approximately 9" long and remains in excellent production used condition with some minor paint wear and flaking due to age, some of the details have been touched up at a later date, possibly due to fading, overall fine.
This represents an exceptionally rare and displayable artefact from this highly regarded masterpiece which received the 1979 Academy Award for Best Visual Effects.
