Doctor Who

An original prop used in the production of the long running BBC television series Doctor Who.

From the 1987 serial Dragonfire starring Sylvester McCoy as The Doctor this is one of the original coins used by Edward Peel as Kane. This particular coin was created by the BBC Visual Effects Department specifically for shots of the coin smoking. Constructed from vacuum formed plastic the coin has only one face with a hollow to the underside allowing the placement of chemicals which would react to produce the smoke effect seen on screen. The coin is finished in silver paint with traces of gold glitter to give a metallic finish and represents a significant artefact from the serial.

The coin measures approximately 1.75" in diameter and remains in excellent production used condition, very fine.
