John Nathan-Turner 'Peri' shirt - The Two Doctors
This shirt was custom made during the production of the long running science fiction television series Doctor Who as a gift for John Nathan-Turner who served as series producer from 1980 until the shows cancellation some nine years later. John remains the longest serving producer in the shows history and was responsible for casting Peter Davison, Colin Baker and Sylvester McCoy in the iconic role.
This shirt was bespoke made for Nathan-Turner by the BBC Wardrobe department during the production of the 1985 serial The Two Doctors and intended to be worn to the after party when location filming on the episode wrapped. The shirt is constructed from exactly the same multi coloured metallic style material as the memorable blouse worn by Nicola Bryant as Peri throughout the aforementioned serial and features blue buttons to the chest and cuffs. Being a bespoke made garment the shirt bears no labels or sizes but is, as you would expect, of a large size.
John Nathan-Turner's love of loud, patterned and Hawaiian shirts is well know to Doctor Who fans and this represents an interesting piece with genuine ties to the production.
