Io refinery model miniature section
An original model miniature section used in the production of the 1981 science fiction thriller Outland starring Sean Connery.
This miniature section formed part of the massive Io refinery miniature that was constructed for the movie by the model making partnership of Martin Bower and Bill Pearson who had previously collaborated on Ridley Scott's Alien. Constructed from EMA plastic the section is heavily detailed with kit parts, painted and weathered to a high standard. To the interior of the model section is what remains of the fibre optic cable which was run throughout the miniature. Following the filming of Outland the refinery filming miniature was dismantled and some sections reused in James Cameron's 1986 science fiction classic Aliens.
The model miniature section stands approximately 10.5" high and remains in good production used condition whilst lacking only minor detailing.
A fine miniature artefact from this cult science fiction production.
