Chinatown

An original costume used in the production of Chinatown, the 1974 picture starring Jack Nicholson and Faye Dunaway under the direction of Roman Polanski.

This costume was worn by Darrell Zwerling as engineer Hollis Mulwray, the husband of Evelyn (Faye Dunaway) who is tailed and photographed by J. J. Gittes (Jack Nicholson) before being found murdered. The double breasted two piece suit was bespoke made for the production by leading industry tailors Western Costume and features a distinct herringbone pattern. Both the jacket and trousers feature their original Western Costume labels to the interior which are type written '2791-1, DARYL ZWERLING' (sic) and with various measurements, further hand inscribed writing and stamps are also present.

The costume remains in excellent production used condition exhibiting some wear to the interior lining however the exterior is extremely fine.

An very rare example of original wardrobe from this highly regarded Academy Award winning picture.
