Doctor Who

An original prop used in the production of the long running BBC science fiction television series Doctor Who.

From the 1977 serial The Sun Makers starring Tom Baker as The Doctor this is an original rifle as used by guards throughout. Custom made by the BBC Visual Effects Department the weapon was designed by Peter Logan and constructed by assistant Rhys Jones, one of four made for the serial this is one of only two practical versions made to fire charges. Constructed largely from wood the weapon is dressed with rubber matting and features a panel to the side which housed the electronics and a bulb is present to the end of the barrel fitted via a jack plug. This prop can be screen matched via numerous identifying features and hails from the collection of effects designer Peter Logan.

The prop measures an impressive 37" long and remains in very good screen used condition with some paint loss and wear to the wood, most notably to the handle.

A rare and highly displayable artefact from the Tom Baker era of this classic science fiction series.
