Doctor Who

An original costume used in the production of the long running BBC science fiction television series Doctor Who.

From the 1978 Key to Time serial The Ribos Operation starring Tom Baker as The Doctor this is the original costume worn by Paul Seed as The Graff Vynda-K. The costume was created by leading industry costumiers Bermans and Nathans, likely for an earlier unknown production before being reused in Doctor Who. The costume comprises of an undergarment constructed of ribbed material which is lined to the interior and features oversized fur cuffs and jewel detailing with a blank Bermans and Nathans label to the interior collar, this is accompanied by an extremely heavyweight full length cloak of longhair sheepskin with a gold braided tie to the front. 

The costume remains in good screen used condition with some minor wear and staining consistent with production use, following its use in Doctor Who this costume was retained by Bermans and Nathans and the faux jewels on the undergarment were replaced for use in a subsequent unknown production.

A fine example of principal character costume from the Tom Baker era of this classic science fiction series.
