An original Time Lord cap used in the production of the long running BBC science fiction television series Doctor Who.

From the 1976 serial The Deadly Assassin starring Tom Baker as The Doctor is this original Time Lord cap, part of the costumes visioned by noted designer James Acheson and created by freelance effects artist Allister Bowtell and the BBC Wardrobe Department.

This cap was worn on screen by Maurice Quick who portrayed the Gold Usher, constructed from thick felt with material lining to the interior the cap features decorative braiding to the edge and a striking gold paint finish. The majority of these caps created for The Deadly Assassin would go on to be redressed and reused in subsequent serials of the show including The Invasion of Time and beyond, this represents a rare example which remains unaltered and still in its original screen used condition from this classic Tom Baker serial.

The cap stands approximately 8.5" high and remains in excellent production used condition with a minor dent to the rear exhibiting minor paint and surface wear, otherwise fine.
