Gladiator

An original weapon used in the production of Gladiator, the 2000 historical epic starring Russell Crowe under the direction of Ridley Scott.

This is an original gladius used by the Roman infantry in the movie, this stunt weapon is constructed from hard rubber with a decorative handle which is painted to imitate wood. The hard rubber blade features an internal metal armature to add strength to the prop with a metallic paint finish. The gladius measures approximately 28.5" long and remains in good condition with some paint loss and a number of chips to the leading edges of the blade, in addition to this the very tip of the blade is missing revealing the internal metal armature of this sword which clearly saw heavy use during the production.
