Description

An original Fourth Doctor hat used in the production of the long running BBC television series Doctor Who.

The fourth incarnation of The Doctor was portrayed by Tom Baker from 1974 to 1981, his tenure remains the longest in the shows (on screen) history, starring in over 170 episodes, he is widely considered to be the most recognisable of all the incarnations of the Time Lord. His eccentric dress sense which matched a frock coat with an absurdly long multi coloured scarf and wide brimmed hat combined with his offbeat personality made him a firm favourite with viewers with many of his adventures consistently ranked among the best Doctor Who adventures ever.

This brown hat was worn on screen by Tom Baker as The Doctor, made by Herbert Johnson hatters of London the hat sports a wide brim and tall crown with a very distinctive construction to the side bow, it is this bow area which makes it possible to positively identify the hat as the one worn in a number of early Tom Baker adventures including fans favourites Pyramids of Mars and Genesis of the Daleks.

The hat is stamped inside 'Herbert Johnson, 38. New Bond St, London.W' in gold lettering and measures approximately 14" across the brim and approximately 5" to the top of the crown, further detailed measurements will remain protected. This iconic Doctor's wardrobe piece remains in excellent screen worn condition throughout and just lacks the centre bow detailing.

An incredibly rare and signature costume piece from the golden age of this cult television programme worn by, arguably, the most loved incarnation of this iconic character.
