Tharil buckle - Warriors Gate
An original prop used in the long running science fiction television series Doctor Who.
From the 1981 serial Warriors Gate starring Tom Baker as The Doctor this is an original cummerbund buckle as worn by the Tharil race as part of the costume designed by June Hudson which likely drew influence from the 1946 Jean Cocteau picture La Belle et la Bete. The buckle was created by freelancer Roger Oldhamstead and is constructed from fibreglass with a golden paint finish, it features an elaborate raised lions head to the centre with an intricately designed border depicting a horse, four holes are present where it would have been attached to the cummerbund during filming.
The buckle measures approximately 6.5" in diameter and remains in excellent production used condition exhibiting some minor edge and paint wear, overall very fine.
A highly displayable artefact from this classic science fiction series.
