Thunderbird 6

Derek Meddings personal vintage still - Tiger Moth

Sold

Description

An original still the promotion of Thunderbird 6, the 1968 science fiction picture directed by David Lane and the second feature film based on the popular television series created by Gerry and Sylvia Anderson.

This original vintage still shows the genuine de Havilland Tiger Moth which was used for aerial stunt work during the production. The still is printed on matte photographic stock and shows the moment which pilot Joan Hughes controversially flew the plane under a bridge on the then unfinished M40 motorway which resulted in herself and production manager Norman Foster famously being charged with dangerous flying necessitating the use of miniatures for the remainder of the shoot which were filmed under the supervision of visual effects director Derek Meddings. This still originates from the personal collection of Meddings and was once displayed in his office.

The still measures approximately 10.5" x 9.5" and remains in very good vintage condition exhibiting toning, minor surface wear and small pin holes to the top corners, generally fine.

A highly displayable artefact from this classic Anderson production.
