Derek Meddings EUROSEC/SHADO Jeep concept artwork
An original concept artwork used in the production of the 1969 science fiction picture Doppelganger, also known as Journey to the Far Side of the Sun.
This concept artwork was designed and painted by legendary visual effects director Derek Meddings, a prolific designer of Anderson productions who would later become an Academy Award winner and one of the most highly respected and influential effects talents of his generation. These EUROSEC Jeeps were built by Space Models and subsequently reused as SHADO Jeeps in the Anderson's 1970 live action television series UFO. Accomplished in acrylic paint on green paper the concept artwork is highly detailed and epitomises Meddings' trademark futuristic style. The artwork is inscribed below in Derek's hand 'DESIGN FOR FEATURE "DOPPELGANGER"' and is signed by the artist to the bottom right corner.
The green paper on which the artwork is accomplished measures approximately 13.5" x 10" and is mounted on a board giving an overall measurement of 15.75" x 12". It remains in excellent production used condition having been retained by Derek Meddings for many years after the production.
A vibrant and displayable example of original artwork from this cult science fiction production which has come to be regarded as one of Meddings' finest works.
