Homer Simpson (Donald Sutherland) waistcoat
An original costume used in the production of The Day of the Locust, the 1975 drama picture based on Nathanael West's novel of the same name.
This waistcoat was bespoke made for use by Donald Sutherland as Homer Simpson by noted industry tailors Western Costume. Constructed from wool with a satin back the waistcoat is of the same material as the suit seen worn by Sutherland in various scenes of the movie and was created as a three piece costume. To the interior the waistcoat features Western Costume stamp in yellow and a label which is type written '2826-1' and 'DONALD SOUTHERLAND' (sic). When viewing the movie it is not possible to conclusively say if Sutherland is or is not wearing this third piece of his suit as the jacket is buttoned up and so it is offered here as a production made piece with no guarantee of screen use.
The waistcoat remains is excellent vintage condition with only minor wear.
An incredibly rare original artefact from this Academy Award nominated picture.
