Doctor Who

An original helmet used in the production of the long running science fiction television series Doctor Who.

From the 1976 Season 14 serial The Masque of Mandragora starring Tom Baker as the Doctor this is an original helmet worn by one of Count Federico's guards. Constructed from fibreglass the helmet features a steel coloured paint finish with a period label to the interior hand inscribed 'BBC' and the remnants of foam padding to the top. The helmet lacks the yellow and red padded band which accompanied it on screen and this was likely discarded as the helmet would have been retained as part of BBC medieval stock for use in subsequent productions.

The helmet measures approximately 12" at its widest point and stands 8" tall, it remains in good production used condition with some notable wear and chipping to the edges of the helmet from subsequent use and/or storage.

A rare and displayable artefact from the early Tom Baker era of this cult science fiction series.
