Battle of Britain

An original flying helmet used in the production of Battle of Britain, the classic 1969 war film directed by Guy Hamilton and Harry Saltzman.

This flying helmet and goggles were obtained by the production for use by Christopher Plummer as Squadron Leader Colin Harvey. The vintage original flying helmet is constructed from brown leather and features various press stud fastenings with a materiel chin strap and zip up ear cups with foam interiors added by the production to retain shape, this featuring its original plaster label to the interior which is hand inscribed 'CHRIS PLUMMER' and accompanied by a pair of vintage original flying goggles of metal, leather and material.

Both the helmet and googles remain in very good vintage condition exhibiting wear to the leather finish and minor discolouration to both pieces, otherwise fine.

An exceptionally rare example of original wardrobe from the production of this quintessential British war picture.
