Star Cops

Charles de Gaulle space station miniature section

Sold

Description

This original model miniature section was used in the production of Star Cops, the 1987 BBC television series penned by prolific science fiction writer Chris Boucher.

This model miniature is a section of the European space station Charles de Gaulle and is clearly seen on screen as one of the establishing shots of the series in 'An Instinct For Murder', the first episode, in which the 'Star Cops' investigate spacesuit malfunctions aboard the space station. The Charles de Gaulle was designed by BBC visual effects designer Mike Kelt, built by Derek Hendon Associates with the filming handled by Peerless Motion Control who had collaborated with the BBC on previous series.

This large scale model miniature section is constructed from EMA plastic and measures an impressive 20" long. This incredibly detailed miniature has panel lines routed into the body and features various detailing such as the Charles de Gaulle insignia with a number of window, flag and hazard sticker detailing applied then intentionally weathered for production.

An incredibly rare example of a principal filming miniature piece from this cult BBC science fiction series.
