Doctor Who

This is the Time Lord collar worn by Angus MacKay as Cardinal Borusa in the 1976 Doctor Who classic The Deadly Assassin which starred Tom Baker as The Doctor.

Designed by academy award winning costume designer Jim Acheson the Time Lord collar went on to become an image synonymous with Doctor Who in the 1970s and 1980s. This particular example can be screen matched to that worn by Cardinal Borusa through a number of unique markings. The collar would have gone on to be used in other serials such as The Invasion of Time and Arc of Infinity before its retirement in the 1980s.

Constructed from a low fibre content fiberglass and adorned with hand applied braiding the piece is very brittle, for this reason many of these were destroyed due to their delicate nature.

This example remains in incredible screen used condition throughout and represents a rare example of truly iconic Doctor Who imagery.
