Production used clapperboard
An original clapperboard used in the production of the classic 1979 war picture All Quiet on the Western Front directed by Delbert Mann.
This production used traditional style black wooden clapperboard with hinged clap stick features the movie title 'ALL QUIET ON THE WESTERN FRONT' with the name of the production company 'TRANSCONTINENTAL FILM PRODS' hand inscribed in marker pen on applied tape. The board also features the names 'D MANN' and J COQUILLON' for director Delbert Mann and director of photography John Coquillon respectively and retains the date ' 2nd AUGUST 79' from its last use during the production.
This large style clapperboard measures approximately 15" x 13.75" and exhibits signs of heavy production use with the top clapper stick having been stuck back together by means of backing it with a new piece of wood which appears period to production. Further to this there is a small hole above the L in Transcontinental and general edge wear and chipping consistent with a well used clapperboard.
An excellent example of the iconic clapperboard which clearly saw heavy use during the production.
