007 licence plate
An original licence plate from the production of the 1981 James Bond picture For Your Eyes Only starring Roger Moore as the suave spy.
As is not unusual for a James Bond picture one of the most memorable elements of For Your Eyes Only is Bond's car which was once again a Lotus Esprit following the popularity of its appearance in The Spy Who Loved Me. This time a Lotus Esprit S3 Turbo which is used predominantly by Bond throughout the movie, two cars were used in white and bronze with the former model being destroyed by its self destruct system early in the movie. As is common after the production the car was used for publicity purposes with this licence plate being used on the front of the car, notably in the now famous photograph shot with a bikini clad model.
The licence plate is constructed of perspex which has been backed with metal and features the iconic and instantly recognisable 007 gun logo in black against a white background. To the verso the plate exhibits the remains of adhesive pads which were used to secure the plate to the car, it measures approximately 20.5" x 4.5" and remains in excellent condition with only minor tarnishing to the metal back plate, very fine.
An incredibly rare and displayable car related artefact which requires no introduction from one of the most celebrated franchises in cinematic history.
