Oliver concept design
An original concept design used in the production of the popular children's television series Thomas and Friends.
This is a production used colour crew copy of the concept design for Oliver the excavator who appeared in series six and various Jack and the Pack episodes.
Created by art director Robert Gauld-Galliers this production issued concept copy was utilised at Shepperton Studios during the creation of the prop and was clearly adhered to closely as it is virtually identical to the final Oliver design seen in the series. The concept features the initials of designer Gauld-Galliers, a human outline for scale and is hand inscribed 'Buster' in pen to the top right hand corner, the name change to Oliver must have occurred at a later date with Buster ultimately becoming a steamroller.
The concept is A4 in size and remains in excellent production used condition with some light soiling and paint traces present, a testament to its use in the Shepperton workshop during production.
A fine design artefact from this much loved children's television series.
