Missile filming miniature - The Last Enemy
An original miniature used in the production of Space: 1999 the cult science fiction television series produced by Gerry and Sylvia Anderson.
From the Year One episode The Last Enemy this is an original missile filming miniature built by noted model maker Martin Bower. The miniature is constructed from EMA plastics dressed with a variety of kit parts and features a painted and weathered finish. A gas pipe coming from the side of the miniature was used to fuel the exhaust flame which was achieved practically, this covered in black velvet to conceal it. The nose cone of the miniature is actually a re-purposed probe use in The Last Sunset which has been repainted.
The miniature measures approximately 18" long and remains in very good production used condition lacking some minor detailing and exhibiting some rust to the end, otherwise fine.
A fine example of an original filming miniature from this classic Anderson series which remains highly regarded for its visual effects.
