Back to the Future Part II

An original prop used in the production of Back to the Future Part II, the second instalment in the classic trilogy starring Michael J. Fox and Christopher Lloyd.

One of the most memorable sequences of the entire Back to the Future trilogy is the chase where Marty (Michael J. Fox) escapes from Griff (Thomas F. Wilson) and his gang on the future equivalent of the skateboard, the Mattel hoverboard which he borrows from a  little girl. Marty keeps the hoverboard and it goes on to feature in key scenes of the movie and also in the climactic sequence of Back to the Future Part III.

A number of hoverboards were created by the production from both wood and styrofoam, this is the latter which features a distinctive finish to include the Mattel branding, a green foot pad with furry pink strap, hand applied velco strips and handlebar hole, to the underside the board features two hover pans of vacuum formed plastic with surrounding detail.

The hoverboard measures approximately 28" x 8" and remains in excellent production used condition with some edge wear and minor paint loss to the hover pans, generally very fine. This represents a rare example of a fully complete and original hoverboard.

An instantly recognisable and iconic artefact from one of the most popular movie franchises in cinematic history.
