Gotham City 200th anniversary sign
An original prop used in the production of Batman, Tim Burton's 1989 superhero blockbuster starring Michael Keaton as the caped crusader opposite Jack Nicholson in his unforgettable portrayal of The Joker.
Signs such as these can be seen around Gotham commemorating the 200th anniversary of the city and throughout the parade held by The Joker (Jack Nicholson). The sign is constructed from plywood with a yellow and black painted finish featuring an emblem of the city and 'GOTHAM 200TH' in white and red letters. The sign features two holes and a wire to the centre which would have been used in rigging the prop to the street lights on the full size Gotham city set at Pinewood Studios.
The large sign measures approximately 30" in diameter and remains production used condition with some extensive paint wear from time spent exposed to the elements, wood stable with some edge wear, otherwise good.
An instantly recognisable and highly displayable artefact from this Academy Award winning superhero classic.
