Apollo 13

An original reference model used in the production of Apollo 13. the 1995 drama starring Tom Hanks under the direction of Ron Howard.

This model was utilised for reference at Digital Domain who produced visual effects for the picture under the supervision of Robert Legato. The miniature is cast in resin with a grey paint finish and various raised and hand etched panel details. The body of the module has been further etched with lines to represent different panels which feature letters and numbers hand inscribed in pen, these would have been used to reference various sections of the module as it was constructed as a quarter scale miniature for filming of the impressive visual effects sequences. The model is presented on a base of plywood construction with a black paint finish which is believed period to production.

The Command Module measures approximately 6.5" in diameter at its widest point and remains in excellent production used condition with minor paint wear and surface marking consistent with handling, overall very fine.

A highly displayable artefact from this well received box office smash which was nominated for nine Academy Awards including Best Visual Effects.
